CARAWINE GORGE IS SITUATED APPROXIMATELY 100 Km NORTH EAST (AS THE CROW FLIES) OF NULLAGINE ON THE OAKOVER RIVER IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA.  I DID THIS TRIP IN SEPTEMBER 1987 TRAVELLING EAST FROM NULLAGINE ON SKULL SPRINGS MINING SERVICE ROAD TO THE OAKOVER RIVER, THEN TAKING A TRACK AT THE OAKOVER RIVER CROSSING WHICH PICKED UP THE WOODIE WOODIE MINE SERVICE ROAD JUST NORTH OF THE TWO SISTERS THEN  PROCEEDING TO THE GORGE. THE WOODIE WOODIE SERVICE ROAD HAS NOW BEEN REALIGNED TO RUN FROM MARBLE BAR TO THE WOODIE WOODIE MINE & IS BITUMEN SEALED WHICH HAS MADE ACCESS TO CARAWINE GORGE MUCH EASIER FOR VEHICLES OTHER THEN 4WD.

UPDATE : THE CYCLONE THAT WENT OVER THE NORTH WEST COAST W.A. IN EARLY 2004 HAS DESTROYED ALL THE RIVER GUMS ALONG THE GORGE & SECTIONS OF THE OAKOVER RIVER: SO SIMILAR IMAGES YOU SEE HERE MAY NEVER BE SEEN OF CARAWINE GORGE FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. IT'S A GREAT SHAME.

ALL THE PICTURES ARE OF THE GORGE FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES EXCEPT THE "TWO SISTERS" WHICH ARE SITUATED ON THE WOODIE WOODIE MINE ROAD SOUTH OF CARAWINE GORGE.
